Dr. Gratton is from Peoria and originally had a career in graphic design. She received a bachelor's degree in biology from the Illinois State University. At ISU, she had the opportunity to participate in research projects including House Wren behavior. She then attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2001. She has treated a variety of animals in the last 15 years including wildlife, pet birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, reptiles, dogs, and cats. Pets at home have included a variety of pet birds, chinchillas, lizards, a guinea pig, a rabbit, a short-tailed opossum and, of course, her two westies, Annie and Mollie.
