Dr. Barker received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. She completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University Veterinary School in Stillwater. Dr. Barker joined the Banfield team in April 2015 after working in a private practice for a few years. During her veterinary training, she spent some time in Africa working with large exotic animals, such as rhinos, giraffes, hyenas, and wildebeest. She has a special interest in exotics, and has quite a few at home including a gecko, snake, and a macaw parrot. She also enjoys spending time with her German Shepherd, Ralph, and her cat, Jeff. In her free time. Dr. Barker participates in horseback riding, longboarding, and teaching violin lessons.
